The dog is then found by a doctor named Phillip Pillipovich, who wins the dog’s trust by feeding it a sausage. Sharik recounts his misfortune to himself. When Sharik comes to, the doctor sees a variety of patients before being visited by the house committee. Since there is no disputing that Sharik is, in fact, a dog and not a man—and alive, to boot—no crime can be levied at the profressor. The next day, a man named Pytor Alexandrovich arrives at the apartment. This is a position that, at this time in Russia, was a controversial one.
